Uzi

This will not be a happy 'I'm in Canada' post, I'm sorry.

My best friend was in Puket with his girlfriend Aya when the tsunami hit. Tsunamis are my one real phobia, I cannot even hear the name, I would never live by the river or the sea in Lisbon because we're long overdue a big earthquake again and guess what comes next. A search party of 6 men went from Israel to Thailand yesterday to look for them, they're army experts who specialised in locating missing people. I don't know if you all pray but I am so worried, I can barely think about anything else. So if you do pray, please pray for them and his safe return to us - or his battered return, I don't care as long as he comes back.

His name is Uzi Saghi and he is the most generous and genuinely good man I've ever met in my life. I cannot bear to think of him not here anymore. I cannot bear to think of him crushed by a 30-feet tidal wave.

Lioness - Sending you the strength to deal with this as best you can. I'm so very sorry and will be hopeful for you and your beloved friend. Uzi is still here, because he lives in your heart, no matter where he is in a physical sense. Hoping you have someone nearby to give you a much needed hug and shoulder to lean on.

Also, this site has been getting much press in US. A young Italian boy who used this site originally to write about his favorite television show, the simpsons, decided to do what he could to help people reach one another.

sorry - hit submit before I meant to. I realize the site is primarily for Italians, but there are helpful links to phone numbers, etc. Just in case it has something that other sites do not.

Also, CNN has a site where you can list information by country by sending an email. http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiapcf/12/28/email.appeals/

Know it isn't much, but wishing I could help more.

Johnny,

I am not one to pray on a regular basis, however I will be praying for Uzi. I hope that he and his girlfriend are found safe. I don't know him at all, but if he is your best friend, he has to be a wonderful individual. I pray for good news.
